Please tell me why
When I was young our local police officers wore pants with a strip, button down shirt with a tie, shiny shoes and a billed cap. They looked professional and friendly and usually were. Today in New Jersey many local police departments wear para-military uniforms complete with jump boots that make the police look threatening and non-friendly. Why the shift?

Why?
Because they become a bunch of SpecOp want to bes, who didn't have the huevos to make a career out of the available combat arms military career fields.
If one is a conspiracy type, then one can say it is a forced, gradual acclimatization to the "real" society in which we live (lobster in a pot theory).
In either case, these little boys in their GI Joe suits need to face reality, take a deep breath, and again, become "local' police officers.
After all, how many store robberies, home burglaries, car thefts, etc., REALLY call for machine gun armed Nazi types, who are notoriously famed for their willingness to first shoot, and later, ask questions?
If our craven, crooked NJ Polls would return to us our stolen Right to Self Defense, our Blue Belly heros could surrender their weapons of mass destruction, eat more free coffee and donuts, and watch US cause the NJ crime rate to be drastically lowered.

Where have you been? We're loosely confederated with GOA, and might be considered "their" NJ group.
We're much more hardcore than the NRA, and are directly responsible for, in a couple of states, NRA actions taken to clean up, in those states, the mess created by NRA staffers. It took 15+ years, but because of a GREAT NRA Director named Scott Bach, Esq., NRA is back on track in NJ and elsewhere.
We, also, are the guys that killed Schundler's prior shot for the Governor's Office.
We're not, necessarily, proud of that fact, but he was speaking out of both sides of his Gun Rights mouth, and had to be stopped.
So we, and some others, so did.
